Reasons for rhinoplasty; correction of deformities or birth defects and changing the physical appearance of the nose or improving some breathing difficulties, making breathing easier.

How Is Rhinoplasty Performed? How Does the Process Work?

Rhinoplasty surgery is not only about the external appearance of the nose. This surgery should be considered as a procedure in which possible curvatures on the inside of the nose are corrected. For this reason, in the detailed examination to be made before the procedure, basic points such as asymmetries, curvatures, skin structure in the nose, as well as possible curvatures and flesh growths in the inner part of the nose that make breathing difficult are evaluated. Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia and the operation time varies between 1-3 hours depending on the technique and the deformity of the nose. The plaster-splint and tampons placed after the procedure are removed between 3-7 days and the plasters are removed on the 7th day.

Which Methods Are Used in Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is generally performed in two ways, open and closed. In the open technique, an incision is made on the lower part of the nose, and in the closed technique, the operation is performed with an incision made through the nose.

When Can Those Who Have Rhinoplasty Return To Work/Normal Life?

Patients can return to their normal lives on the 7th day after surgery. However, post-operative edema is a time-consuming process for the nose shape to settle. In the first month, the edema decreases in a very significant size, but it takes 6 months to 1 year for the shape to be fully settled. It is important to protect the nose from possible blows in the early postoperative period.
